Summary:

Configures the drawing environment, allowing many of the CADtools routines to function correctly. Optionally places a drawing border.

Description:

The Drawing Setup wizard guides you through inputting drawing border-type properties, setting system variables and finally inserting a drawing border (otherwise known as a title block).

The wizard presents the same pages as those in the Drawing Settings dialogue. This reflects the way that you would typically use these tools i.e. The Wizard is typically used to insert a title block at the start of a drawing and the Drawing Settings dialogue is used to make subsequent modifications.

The first three pages present data entry forms for "Drawing Information", "Job Details" and "Variables". If you have a ProjectSettings.txt file in your job area, some of the fields will be pre-filled with data from that file. For more details on these pages and how to control their contents refer to the Drawing Settings documentation.

Insert Drawing Border tab:

So-called "standard" drawing borders can be different in each office or more typically, on each project. To cater for this, CADtools allows you to define your own project or domain borders, which will then appear in the "Category" combo box.  CADtools will search for border data in ProjectSettings.txt, DomainSettings.txt and StandardSettings.txt. It will look for the border blocks in a "borders" sub-folder as shown below. You should normal only customise the project and domain borders. Samples of ProjectSettings.txt and DomainSettings.txt are provided in the samples folder for you to copy and customise.

<Project Dwg Settings>\borders - Looks for ProjectSettings.txt by crawling up the directory tree
<Domain Settings>\borders - Looks in the
<Application Root>\borders - Looks in StandardSettings.txt which is part of the CADtools installation

Note: <Project Dwg Settings>, <Domain Settings>, and <Application Root> are CADtools Locations which vary depending on where you installed CADtools, and what project you are working on.

If any 'insertable' borders are found, their categories will appear in the "Category" combo box.

Note: The ProjectSettings.txt documentation describes how to create and edit either DomainSettings.txt or ProjectSettings.txt file.

CADtools will remember the settings you use for next time you use Drawing Setup.
