Project co-ordinate systems (and seed file)

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

There are two schools of thought when it comes to deciding which co-ordinate systems to use when modelling in Bentley Structural, either real world co-ordinates or project grid co-ordinates (usually much closer to 0,0 and rotated such that the building grid aligns with the XY axes if possible).

Each method has it’s positives and negatives outlined below, and the project CAD leader should decide which method will be used on a project.  Where no other constraints apply, the ‘real world co-ordinates’ method is the preferred method.
