Summary Report

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Summary report is used to create Beam Schedules and similar report where the data is summarised by some given values.  This report gives a number of options for defining which column is used to group similar values, the columns which appear on the final report, and any extra processing (such as totalling weights for each group of elements).

The Summary Report type also includes a number of ‘Pre-cooked’ examples which can speed up the setup of a report.

The ‘Primary Column’ item in the report settings is the column that is used to create the grouping of data on the output.  For example, if your 3D model is created such that elements of the same structural size have the same ’Mark’ attribute, this mark attribute can be used to group the data for creating a beam schedule.

The summary report includes two ‘Column Options’ that can optionally be applied to the output.  The ‘Add Values Together’ option simply does that, for each element that matches that grouping, a numerical value can be extracted from a given column (e.g. ‘Length’ can be extracted and added together on the output to form a ‘Total Length’).

The ‘Check Values Match’ option is useful for ensuring that when elements are grouped together by one criteria (such as ‘Mark’) that they also have other values that match (such as Section Size).  This helps avoid modelling issues such as one element where the ‘Mark’ attribute was not updated when the section size was changed.
