Queues.ini

Type: System file

Location:

CADplot can use multiple Queues.ini files; see Configuration file locations and System file searching. The sub-folder used is:

…\CADplot

Description:

The file, which is used to list your office printers and plotters, is the system file called Queues.ini and controls where the output is sent. This file consists of one or more group headings. Each group heading contains one or more queue definitions e.g.

4th Floor

HP5000N (Pens 1-9 Black 10- 255 Grey Scale)

HP5800N (Pens 1-9 Black 10- 255 Colour)

HP5800N (All Colour)

Queues may be defined in multiple group headings and appear more than once within that group. The order of entries in the queues.ini file governs the display order of CADplot's user interface.

cadplot_queues_order

Each queue definition within a group heading consists of three fields:

Queue name

Printer type

Printer description

E.g. \\Server01\HP5000N,   A3_System_Printer_mono,   HP5000N

Queue name

There are five ways to describe a queue name:

Printer device name

e.g. HP5000N

This will allow plot files to be plotted a file only, plotted to a file and sent to the printer or only sent to the printer (plot file not saved).

Windows printer share name in the form of a UNC path

e.g. \\Server01\HP5000N.

This will allow plot files to be plotted a file only, plotted to a file and sent to the printer or only sent to the printer (plot file not saved).

Blank

If the field is left blank, the entry is still considered valid, but unconnected to any specific printer queue.

This may be used to create generic file formats e.g. HPGL/2, DWF, Postscript etc. without referring to a particular printer or plotter. In this case the file and plot options will be greyed out. It will only create a file in the 'CheckSettings.ini' path.

Folder path

The entry will behave in the same way as if it were blank i.e. plot options will be greyed out. But in addition to creating a file in the 'CheckSettings.ini' path, it will also copy the file to the named Folder path. This may be used with watched folders.

Filter

The field refers to a filter that is used to post process plot files. For example PDF output is implemented by filtering Postscript.

Printer type

This entry must be defined in the Types.ini files. Out of the box, CADplot provides a Types.ini file which contains printer types based on a HP Designjet 750C, ePlot dwf format, Postscript Level 2, and A3 and A4 system printers i.e. any A3 or A4 device which uses a windows printer driver. It is easy to create your own if you have to.

Printer description

A friendly description for the queue name that is displayed to user e.g.

HP5000N (Pens 1-9 Black 10-255 Grey Scale)

Note:

Office specific printer and plotter details should be located in the following folder. Files located in this folder will be automatically searched by CADplot and will not be overwritten if you upgrade at a later date.

<DomainSettings>\CADplot
