Important notes about this Release

The CADtools Microstation 2.2.1 release includes the following updated items:

Microstation

•Updated versions of Bentley installer (See CADtools_2.2.1_for_Microstation#Supported_software_versions )

•64 bit installers for Microstation, InRoads and Bentley Structural

•Minor fixes to a number of tools that crashed when model scale was set to 'Custom'

•Updated 'About CADtools' information, and expiry date messages

CADtools menu shortcuts to open Windows Explorer in current DGN file directory, ProjectSetting.txt directory, and email support issues to the relevant CADtools support teams.

Civil

•Correct versions of CivTools MDL for v8.5 and XM

•Grid tool revised to work with Model Scale in XM

•Structural Shapes Explorer support for new section shapes introduced by Bentley (Concrete Box, Concrete U, Concrete Super Tee)

•Tool to help create structural section mapping file for import/export to GSA.

•Added dataset to support use of Bentley Structural with Arup Civil Bridges discipline layers (Refer to section 7.3.1 of the CADtools Project configuration manual - http://mccweb/cadtools_ustn/CAD_Management/CAD_Management_Setup.htm )

•Toolbox icons for 'beta' tools previously released as keyins only.

•Simple Reo / PT tool (Concrete Tools)

•Simple Purlins / Joists tool (Steelwork Tools)

New Simple Reo tools in the "Concrete Tools" task

•Change Bentley Structural member placement in place (Structural Tools)

•Remove offset from Bentley Structural member in place (Structural Tools)

•Minor fixes to Strand7 importer

•Updated CADtools Bentley Structural Modelling Manual ( See also: http://mccweb/cadtools_ustn/CADtools_Structural/CADtools_Structural_Index.htm )

•New section covering use of the GEO member tools

•Updated section on integration with GSA

•New section on embedding 3d PDF data in 2d PDF's (Thanks Stuart Bull for these notes)

The CADtools for Microstation 2.2.1 release is supported for the following product versions:

•Microstation: 8.9.4.88 (Updated)

•InRoads: 8.9.2.16 (Unchanged)

•Bentley Structural: 8.9.4.65 (Updated)

•Bentley Building Mechanical: 8.9.4.29 (Unchanged)

•Bentley Building Electrical: 8.9.4.10 (Unchanged)

•Bentley Building Architectural: 8.9.4.30 (Unchanged)

•GenerativeComponents: 8.9.5.50 (Updated)

•Bentley Redline: 8.9.4.51 (Unchanged)

SMS Install procedure

NOTE: The SMS update procedures are still being finalised for the 2.2.1 release. It is intended that this will also clarify what IT managers need to do to install Bentley products on nominated machines. The CADtools team will advise when these details are finalised. For now, please use the batch installers to update your PC's individually.

The CADtools Microstation team have been working with the Global IT team to make available the CADtools installers through the Systems Management Server (SMS) technology. This is Arup standard technology which allows IT admins to automatically deploy software to PC, reducing the burden of work to keep your CAD PC's up to date with the latest software.

Traditional batch file install procedure

In addition to the SMS installation, we also support the normal batch file installation, where possible these batch files will also now take care of un-installing any relevant previous versions of the software. These updated batch file installers live in P:\Program Files\Oasys\CADtools_Ustn\Local\Install\

•Microstation: 8.9.4.88 Updated - Run the \Local\Install\CADtools_Microstation_XM.bat to install latest version, and also uninstall an previous 8.9 version

•Bentley Structural: 8.9.4.65 Updated - Run \Local\Install\CADtools_Structural_XM.bat to install latest, and also uninstall previous 8.9.4 versions of Structural and Triforma)

•GenerativeComponents: 8.9.5.50 New - Run \Local\Install\CADtools_GenerativeComponents_XM.bat to install latest GenerativeComponents and Triforma.

In some cases, you may need to remove the previous 8.9 (XM) versions of these programs, and then re-run the install script, if the installation fails. These batch files all work on the basis that CADtools Microstation XM has previously installed using the 'CADtools_Microstation_XM.bat' batch file in the same directory.
